Paddington Bear has become a permanent Ashby de la Zouch resident, as part of the national “Paddington Visits Trail”, celebrating the cinema release of a new film, featuring the bear, Paddington in Peru.
In Ashby, visitors can join Paddington Bear on his new bench in the pretty WI garden, at the top of the main street, to enjoy a marmalade sandwich together.

What is the Paddington Visits Trail?
The Paddington Visits Trail features 23 statutes across the UK and was devised by film creators StudioCanal. In each Paddington statute he sports his blue duffle coat and red hat and of course has his marmalade sandwich at the ready! Ordnance Survey has created an interactive Paddington Visits map, to help users find each of the Paddington Visits statues, as well as walks in the surrounding areas.

Hugh Bonneville, who plays Mr Brown in the film, commented: “I am thrilled to reveal we are going to be unveiling a number of benches across the UK, all featuring a statue of our beloved bear. Ahead of the new film, fans, families and friends can sit down and have a chat with the marmalade-loving bear, so watch this space for more information about Paddington…coming to a bench near you!”
